Ontario POA Courts
What is the Provincial Offences Act?
The Provincial Offences Act (POA) is Ontario's procedural statute for handling provincial offences — regulatory charges that are less serious than criminal offences. These include Highway Traffic Act violations, municipal bylaw infractions, environmental charges, and more.
Can I represent myself in a POA court?
Yes. You have the right to represent yourself in Ontario POA courts. Many people do. Understanding the process, the players, and your options is the first step — which is exactly what this site is designed to help with.
How do I find the court I need to attend?
Your ticket or notice will identify the court location. Use our Courts directory to find contact information, courtroom details, and prosecutor office information for that location.
What is disclosure and how do I request it?
Disclosure is the Crown's evidence package — notes, photos, videos, or other materials the prosecutor intends to rely on. You have the right to receive it before your trial. Each court's prosecutor office page on this site includes a disclosure request link where available.
